Fish Head Noodles @ Woo Pin Taman Desa

I had been told that there is a very famous fish head noodles (rice vermicelli to be more accurate) at Taman Desa but I had never try it until my last visit to KL recently, my brother-in-law purposely brought us to this eatery to taste it out! Yeah... this particularly famous with its fish head beehoon's shop is named Woo Pin Fish Head Noodles Sdn Bhd, located at Jalan 1/109F, Taman Danau Desa, KL.

Don't be cheated by its signboard written "Ho A One Seafood Steamboat Restaurant". Trust me you can't find any steamboat there anymore. That would be the old signboard. Look for the green banners instead printed "Woo Pin Fish Head Noodles Sdn Bhd" which operate from 7.30am - 10.00pm daily and closed on Monday.

We went there on lunch time and it was shocking when I saw the influx of patrons flooding the shop. We were lucky to get one table soon enough without much waiting. Look at the notice on the wall saying "Please be informed that all tables are to be shared". It simply means if your table have spare seats, you need to share them with other customers. If your intention is to enjoy the food with your love one face2face without been disturbed, I think you better forget about it! Table for 4 is means to be for 4 and not for 2!

There are few variants of noodles combination you can order from. The most original one is the deep fried fish head with rice vermicelli in evaporated milk added broth. This is what I felt special about this food - evaporated milk been added to the soup which makes the taste so unique! However, the amount of milk added much contribute to its tastiness. Too much or less may spoil the taste.

Deep fried fish head is the best choice, but if you are in hurry, I would suggest you don't go for it because you need time to negotiate with the fish bones which appeared to be a lot! You wouldn't like the feeling of fish bone stuck in your esophagus, would you? For that reason, you can option for boneless fish paste version. These fish pastes are delicious as well, bouncy yet not that fishy, but I can assure you that deep fried fish head is still tastier!

For any reasons if you are not in favor of milky products, you can order the clear soup version. There are only 2 types of noodles you can choose from, either beehun or yee mee. Each bowl of fish head noodles with regular size priced RM6.50, certainly worth the money with the big portion and good quality of food.

Oh ya... if you are here, don't forget to try out their Foo Chuk Yee Mai (barley cooked with beancurd sheet and Ginkgo) as well. Heard they're well-known for this beverage. It's my first time had the drink and it was really tasty with strong egg fragrance! I believed eggs are part of the ingredients to produce the beverage. Each cup of Foo Chuk Yee Mai is RM2.00.

I will definitely go back to this shop and try the other version of noodles again if I have the chance in the future!

2nd Sibu Lantern Festival - Day View of the Standing Lanterns

Yeah... I know this is not something fresh. It is about the 2nd Sibu Lantern Festival which was started on the 16th and by now it's more than a week's old already. This is in fact the 4th post I shared about this festive event because I found out that there are too many colorful photos to share. No matter you like it or not, I beg you at least scan through these colorful photos which I took under the clear weather and hot sun. This is probably my last post about the event before I move on.

[Lantern from Wisma Sanyan]

I love the blue blue sky which make my photos feel more presentable despite taken with an unprofessional camera. Anyhow, the colorful giant lanterns standing at Sibu Town Square phase 1 compound really made up my day! By this moment, you hardly found such beautiful scenery anymore after a strong wind blew across Sibu sky on Wednesday night. Lots of hanging lanterns were fallen and the standing one also facing some damages. So, do enjoy these photos which stay pretty forever! ;)

2nd Sibu Lantern Festival - Day View of the Street Lanterns

In my previous post I shared about the light-up and night view of 13,000 lanterns covering Sibu's sky at 2nd Sibu Lantern Festival held from 16th - 26th September. If you are at the scene, you would feel how tremendous that is! Although there are critics saying that the lanterns are not properly aligned, but I believe it is just the little imperfection. Overall comments are still encouraging.

A friend told me that this is prettier than Singapore Orchard Road during Christmas season. Another friend come all the way from Kuching just to witness its beauty as well as taking photos on it because according to her, thousands of lanterns on the streets is something unique and attractive. I believe that this is another event that had put Sibu in the center of attention after the 516 Sibu by election despite the scale is smaller.

Cut the craps, in this post I gonna share the day view of the street lanterns. Although night view is more romantic, but day view has its own attractiveness. Capturing on daylight is much easier than night as the natural lighting is sufficient especially when the sky is clear. However, exposed under the hot sun is unavoidable. Anyway, I am satisfied with the outcome. It is not pro, but is the efforts that count. Hope you like them too!
